Despite a lack of official information surrounding the launch of Modern Warfare 2, players are already looking forward to what Infinity Ward has in store for the sequel to 2019's Modern Warfare.
So far, leaks and rumours claim changes to skill-based matchmaking (SBMM) are in the works in addition to details on a new Perk system that allows players to equip four rather than three.
In addition to all the speculation, a fresh claim suggests teasers and clues for Call of Duty's 2022 title will begin to appear sooner than many community members expected.
Modern Warfare 2 Teasers
On April 9, notable Call of Duty leaker 'RalphsValve' posted an image of a countdown clock with 20 days remaining. In addition to the countdown image, the leaker also tagged with an "April 30th" caption, implying some kind of event is taking place.
With several excited fans wondering what the announcement could include, the leaker followed up with another tweet, claiming the full Modern Warfare 2 reveal is still a few months away. Seeing as the countdown is unrelated to the full reveal, the first teasers for Modern Warfare 2 could appear as soon as April 30. As always, take leaks with a pinch of salt but considering Ralph's impressive track record, there's a chance there could be some substance behind their claim.
When Does Modern Warfare 2 Come Out?
Even without any official confirmation from Infinity Ward or Activision, it's highly likely Modern Warfare 2 will launch in its usual Q4 window later in 2022. With rumours suggesting development of the game is ahead of schedule, there is a chance of an October release.
