Fruit is one of the most important food items that you will need in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and among those most important is coconuts. Not only do you need fruit to survive, as it's a terrific source of food, but fruit can also be sold for a large number of Bells if you build up a surplus.
However, from the onset of New Horizons, your island will not have that much fruit on it. Players will only have a selection of a couple of pieces of fruit, and the rest will simply not be present or attainable in any foreseeable way. This is because in order to get more fruit, you have to leave your island.
For those who have been trying to get coconuts on their island, you have likely asked yourself where you can find them. Luckily, the answer is simple, but it will require some luck. So let's take a look at how to get coconuts in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Finding coconuts in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Firstly, you'll need 2000 Nook Miles. Complete the game's many objectives to earn these, then spend them at a Nook Point to buy a Nook Miles Ticket. Once you have it, head to Dodo Airlines, and you'll be whisked away to another island.
Here, you are looking for fruit trees. Specifically, you want to look for fruit you do not already own on your island. These islands tend to be randomly assigned fruit, so keep your eyes peeled for any trees that don't have the same fruit as what you already have.
Once you find a coconut tree, shake it and eat the coconuts that fall. This will make your character strong enough to uproot the tree with a single shovel dig.
All done? Great, just head back to the plane and return to your island with your new tree and plant it - giving you coconuts all year round. You can choose only to plant one coconut tree or plant several of them, allowing you to cultivate your crop of coconuts in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
