Path of Exile update 3.17 is coming this February, and developer Grinding Gear Games has officially named the update "Siege of the Atlas."
As MMORPG.com first reported, a live stream will be taking place January 27 at 11 a.m. PST/ 7 p.m. GMT on the Path of Exile Twitch Channel. A handful of details are expected to be revealed during the stream, such as what to expect from the new update, obviously, the challenge league coming alongside it, and probably a snazzy new trailer as well.

Some fans were wondering if update 3.17 would see the addition of the Hard Mode to Path of Exile, though it seems that's not going to happen after all. Grinding Gear said:
"We had mentioned in the past that we were going to start some testing before 3.17 launches, but as we have been prioritising 3.17's development, it's now slated for sometime after 3.17's launch."
As for other expectations about Siege of the Atlas, the Scourge mechanic from update 3.16 called Path of Exile: Scourge wouldn't be available from 3.17 moving forward. The expansion will be live on February 4.
