Gran Turismo 7 has reached Sony's lowest Metacritic user score in PlayStation history, following a patch that made earning cars more difficult. Facing widespread criticism for its microtransactions, many player are unhappy this was implemented almost immediately after launch, despite a $70/£70 price point.
Earning a 2.5/10 user score, it's a stark contrast to the critic reviews at 8.7, which were carried out before this patch went live. Gran Turismo 7's recent maintenance was also brought up, preventing many from playing because of online play being a mandatory requirement.

Right now, Sony hasn't addressed these concerns but GT7 boss Kazunori Yamauchi released a statement on the game’s website, defending car pricing while also wanting customers to play without paying. As such, we're not expecting this to change in the immediate future.
Gran Turismo 7 is now available on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. We had positive impressions in our review, calling GT7 “the definitive racing experience.” You can find it here but as a disclaimer, this was published before the latest patch went live.
