Elden Ring Aims to “Reduce Player Stress” Without Compromising on Difficulty

FromSoftware has confirmed that Elden Ring will reduce player stress without compromising on enemy difficulty. Releasing a gameplay overview - which confirmed Bandai Namco's upcoming RPG has gone gold - producer Yasuhiro Kitao outlined their focus.

Speaking during the Taipei Game Show (thanks IGN), Kitao expressed how Elden Ring's features can be an instrument to preventing player stress. However, that doesn't mean enemies are being weakened, but given better designs.

Part of Kitao's statement reads as:

"With the game's world being so large, that can produce real depth and breadth of enjoyment, but it can also lead to unnecessary stress for some players. The dev team has been very careful to avoid that where possible."

Part of this include Elden Ring's new ability to ride a horse, and Kitao states:

Horses provide a stress-free method of traveling across the long distances the player needs to travel in the game. That system was introduced as a means of quickly and enjoyably moving vertically upward in order to explore those higher areas.

Elden Ring launches on February 25 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. We'll keep you informed with further updates as they happen.
