Alien Isolation 2 is officially in development, according to Creative Assembly. The surprise announcement came out on October 7 via social media, including Twitter.

The news broke off during the game’s 10 year anniversary, which is a fitting announcement to celebrate this one of a kind horror title.

“When we started developing Alien: Isolation, we had one guiding principle: to create a truly authentic experience that went back to the roots of the ALIEN franchise.” said Al Hope, Creative Director of the original Alien: Isolation. This heavily implies that he will be taking the creative director mantle once again in this sequel.

It has been 10 years since Alien: Isolation came out and it was one of the best survival horror games of modern gaming. The clever AI of the Xenomorph haunts players through the very ends of the station. Gamers from all around the world have suffered from the terror of the perfect organism. “It was a dream project brought to life by a brilliant team, and the reception you have given it over the years is extraordinary.” Al said, thanking new and old fans.

It’s now 2024 and more players are still experiencing Alien: Isolation for the first time. One would say that we can still hear their screams after their initial Xenomorph encounter.

While we still have no idea what the sequel’s plot could be, we can assume that it continues Amanda Ripley’s adventures after the end of Isolation.

The daughter of Ellen Ripley might return after breaking free from the Xenomorph. After her survival on Sevastopol Station, she’s stranded in deep space, hoping for someone to save her.

Much of the original's praise was in its unnerving atmosphere that captured the essence from the 1979 movie. It was a claustrophobic quest to get out of a derelict space station, to make matters worse, players are trapped with an intelligent predator constantly stalking them.

The Metroidvania element encourages players to constantly backtrack and find key items. It was an intentional design element to give players a sense of purpose, and dread.

The first-person perspective also added to the first game's immersion. Ripley is not like her mother, but she’s capable of outsmarting even the smartest organism in the world. Her survival tools include makeshift grenades, a flamethrower and a few engineering gizmos that could prove handy in tricky situations.

There's still a lot we don't know about this sequel, but we are hopeful to see more of the Xenomorph with a much more terrifying AI.

Alien Isolation 2 is still in ‘early development,’ meaning we still have to wait a few years before we can go toe to toe with the Alien itself.
