Dell and Alienware’s reveal at CES2020 has raised more than a few eyebrows. The Concept UFO purports to be a portable gaming device – one that can’t help but draw comparisons to the Nintendo Switch, given its detachable controllers and 8” screen.
Here’s everything we know about it so far.

Specifications
Though not much is yet known about the innards of the UFO, it supposedly boasts an Intel 10th generation core processor. Its graphical capabilities are even murkier, with Alienware claiming that it’s using an Intel graphic processor instead of any of the mainstream models from Nvidia or AMD.
Though Intel’s let slip that they’re working on the Xe-line graphic processors, it hasn’t yet been specified if this is what’s powering the Concept UFO.
As for its feature-set: Nintendo Switch owners will be more than familiar with the detachable controllers, the kickstand to allow players to prop the screen up while on the go, and the Concept UFO’s ability to attach itself to an external monitor.
Price
As the Concept UFO is, as the name implies, a concept model, plans for its release to market are not as yet confirmed. As such, its intended price range is also unknown.
First Impressions
That the Concept UFO is basically a PC version of the Nintendo Switch is no mark against it.
Rather, as its competitor’s proven, there’s a lot of inherent value in making games more mobile-friendly, allowing players to sneak it into the gaps of their daily lives instead of forcing them to find discrete-time and space for the experience.
The potentially more powerful specs will likely be necessary to match the quality of gameplay experience, though, so we’ll have to see how much farther Alienware takes this concept.
