2020 is coming to a close and the holiday season is in full swing.
While most of the world is under lockdown measures as of writing, that doesn't mean you can not have some fun within your bubble.
Earlier in the year, Animal Crossing New Horizons released for the Nintendo Switch and was dubbed the 'quarantine saver'.
The game was massively popular during its release, and although the hype may have dyed off; some of you may be picking it up over the holidays.
If you are just starting out with New Horizons, there is a lot to take in during the early stages of the game.
So, we have devised simple tips and tricks guide for you beginners out there!
Have Patience
Animal Crossing is a series that revolves around using the real-world clock for certain activities.
This can be seen when it comes to the times you are able to catch certain bugs or fish during the game.
Your Nintendo Switch's in-game clock is going to determine the time New Horizons is based around.
You can choose to time travel to certain days or months, but some people will frown upon this decision.
If it was up to us, we would recommend time-traveling; especially if you are waiting on a certain day or hour.
Layout
Of course, the main draw to Animal Crossing is the creative freedom you have within the game. You have full control of the island you spawn on, and you can basically dictate where everything goes.
From all the villager's houses to the town hall choosing how your island is structured is going to be one of the most important aspects of the game.
We recommend having separate sections for all your villagers, along with a section for all the retail and other buildings you will discover during your playthrough.
After all, there is nothing more exciting than having a beautifully designed island to log into every day!
Inventory
Storage within New Horizons is one of the most important aspects of the game. When the game initially released, this was a massive concern among players; as there was no room to store any items.
Now, this has been expanded to allow for players to hold more items. But, organizing where you store certain items will make your life SO much easier.
Spending some time to re-arrange everything neatly so that you automatically know where everything is can be a lifesaver.
Villagers
Another core component of the game is the Villagers that will come and live on your island. These are completely random, and there are quite a few you can get stuck with.
From time to time your Villagers will ask you for favors or tasks to complete. You should complete these and check in on them from time to time, this will ensure they do not leave your island and stay happy.
Have Fun
One of the best tips we can give you is to just relax and have fun with New Horizons.
It is a game meant for relaxing and kicking back after a long day! So enjoy it, you deserve it after this troubling year.
