Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been all over the news lately for a number of different reasons as news makes its way to the public.
From a lack of cloud saving support to island limitations, it's not the best way to build up to launch for Animal Crossing Switch - especially as the game was delayed for almost six months.
But a new piece of information has been spotted about microtransactions and DLC that could spell even worse news.
Keep up to date with everything Animal Crossing by watching below!
New Horizons Will Include In-Game Purchases
It's been spotted on the Nintendo of America's official game page that Animal Crossing: New Horizons will support "in-game purchases".
On the 13th February, the reference to in-game purchases has now been removed from the ESRB rating section.
In-game purchases and microtransactions have a lot of negative stigmas attached to them, fans see it as a way to get more money out of players for content that should have been included with the game.
Games already cost up to £50 and it can be expensive to continue to purchase more items, especially if they are integral to the game.
It's not the first time that Animal Crossing has introduced in-game purchases. The 2017 title Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp introduced microtransactions and a paid subscription service.
It could just be that this is a nod to the fact that DLC is on the way or a reference to the online service.
Nintendo has released additional content in its flagship games such as Super Smash Bros Ultimate, in the form of additional fighters, and Pokemon Sword and Shield's Expansion Pass, including the Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra adventures.
Speaking of these titles, they also mention "in-game purchases" and both these games feature DLC.
If we were to speculate, these in-game purchases probably give players new costumes and cosmetics.
