With Apex Legends Season 4 getting closer by the minute, the promise of updated maps, shiny new weapons and new, incredible looking Legends, feels impossible to wait for.
Tonight's new Assimilation launch trailer added another layer of restlessness, as players watched the Syndicate's greatest hitman, Revenant, obliterate a room of gun-wielding enemies.
Amongst all the action, players could be forgiven for missing a very small detail on a possible origin story of another character.
Revenant
Revenant had been teased for what felt like an eternity. Possible abilities and a slew of other information was leaked, but nothing concrete that determined whether he was actually coming to Season 4.
He then had a back and forth with character James ‘The Forge’ McCormick, after it was revealed that Forge was the next confirmed Legend. All of this ended abruptly when Revenant murdered Forge during his own interview. This can be seen in the 'Stories from the outlands: up close and personal' video on YouTube.
In the new launch trailer, Revenant is seen showing off some pretty badass abilities, whilst exterminating a room of well-armed men, like a graceful ballerina of death.
The trailer, along with some comments from Respawn, gave players a backstory that explained how Revenant became the unstoppable killing machine that he is.
Respawn explained "Revenant was the greatest hitman that the Syndicate ever had, but when his programming failed, he saw what Hammond Robotics had turned him into. Hammond Robotics' return to the Outlands has renewed his thirst for vengeance, and he won’t stop until they’re all dead".
Possible Origin Story
A Legend leaked around the same time as Revenant was the 'translocating thief' Rosie, who is also referred to as Loba. This alias is an important piece of information when looking at a potential origin story in the recent trailer.
It's possible that Rosie, or Loba was the little girl in the Assimilation launch trailer.
45 seconds into the trailer, the little girl is given a small wolf statue as a gift, although it's an odd present for a little girl, it has significance.
Translated to Spanish, Loba means 'Wolf'. If this little girl was given the nickname Loba, it explains why her dad gave her such a strange gift.
If you still aren't sure whether or not this girl grows up to become the leaked Legend in season 4, check out this shot of her leaning over her dad's lifeless body, and tell me that she's not already dreaming about the day she'll destroy Revenant.
Hopefully, she doesn't exact her revenge before we have the chance to play as him. (We don't need another Forge situation on our hands).
