How to get flying mount in Avatar Frontiers of Pandora

You get a flying mount in Avatar Frontiers of Pandora by completing the mission titled Take Flight. In this quest, your custom character follows a Na'vi companion called Eetu as you climb up a huge, multi-layered tree to reach an ikran rookery.

This is no simple task, and while there's no combat to speak of, you'll spend around five minutes traversing lakes, clambering along cliffsides, and contending with huge jumps before making it high enough to see your first ikran. It also requires a few attempts of bonding before the ikran is happy to connect with you, making it a fairly lengthy process.

Once you're up high enough and reach the base of the rookery, you'll see a cutscene where your character intertwines with the ikran of their choice to become kindred spirits. Then, you can fly upon your mount as and when you like, beckoned by pressing down on the D-pad.

There could be more variants with better speed, handling, or combat capabilities, but details like that won't be ironed out until the game launches.

How to customise mount in Avatar Frontiers of Pandora

Equally, we don't yet know whether you can customise your ikran in any way, be it cosmetic tweaks like armour or tribal clothing, or skill boosts to upgrade speed or damage resistance.

Given how intrinsic your ikran is to traversing Pandora and flying across the realm, it seems likely that at some point in your adventure, you'll be given a way to augment your mount's performance. We'll just have to wait and see.
