How to find the Blood of Lathander in Baldur's Gate 3

First, you must locate the Blood of Lathander, which is found in the Inquisitor's Chambers within the Githyanki Creche near the Mountain Pass. This is done by trying to give an artefact to Kith'rak Therezzyn. The artefact will reject her and go back to you. However, there's also the option to pickpocket her to get a key to use the Githyanki Barrier Disruptor by the door of the chambers.

Once you're in the chambers, the Inquisitor will call you over and a cutscene begins that could lead to combat. But since you're prioritising finding the weapon first, you can ignore the Inquisitor for now and head to the left side of the chambers and go down to a room in the west area, which has two statues inside.

The left statue will have a plaque that says "Lathander bids the setting sun a fond farewell." The right statue says, "Lathander blesses the bountiful, rising sun." This riddle means that you must turn the statues facing the sun. Here's some detailed instructions on how to do it:

  • Strike the left statue with an attack that has at least 10 damage
  • Next, turn the left statue a bit to the left which aligns with how the sun sets at the west
  • While for the right statue, it should turn to face the right as well which aligns with how the sun rises from the east

Once you've aligned the statues and solved this puzzle, a doorway will reveal itself and it will let you through a secret area that contains the Blood of Lathander. However, it isn't easy to take this weapon as your own.

How to get and use the weapon

There will be three obstacles that get between you and the Blood of Lathander. These barriers are protected by crystals which you must destroy.

You must first destroy the first crystal you see, which opens the barrier.

Next, you have to avoid a Dawnbreaker trap found near the edge of a cliff next to the second barrier.

Then once you deactivate the next Dawnbreaker, you'll see a crystal you can shoot down with a long-range weapon which will open the final barrier and let you pass.

Once you're inside the chamber with the mace, you can then see the options of examining it or taking it. You must take note though that if you take the mace, the entire area will blow up. Here you have some options on how to bypass this situation:

  • At the corner of each room, there are Lathander Solar Machines that must be destroyed within four turns. These machines are found in the corner of the room and can only be damaged with long-range attacks. Choose your party members' roles wisely on who will destroy each machine and who will hold the mace.
  • Another option is using the Dawnmaster's Crest. This is only an option if you've completed the Stained Glass puzzle on top of the Rosymorn Monastery. The crest can be inserted into the mace's underside which disarms the explosion.

Both these options will allow you to take the mace safely and keep it. The Blood of Lathander is quite useful if you plan to go to the Shadow-Cursed Lands, as it can light up your way and blind enemies that you may encounter. So it's definitely worth risking for in Baldur's Gate 3.
