Is there any opportunity to change your name?
Well, even if you don’t have an official option to change your name, there may still be some alternatives. However, currently, we don't know if it's possible to do this without running into serious performance issues and different crashes.
How to give your character a name in Baldur’s Gate 3
Some people may find it difficult to name their characters as the option is hidden in a certain tab. During character creation, you will need to open the Background menu. There you can choose the background of your character, which will give you certain bonuses. Also, there you can give your hero a name.
However, you may want to play as an origin character, which is a famous feature of the Larian games. These are pre-made heroes that you will encounter during your playthrough and who will become your followers. Each of them has unique features and stories, and you can play as one of them if you want.
So, we would recommend you give your character a decent name during character creation, as you won’t be able to change it in the future. Good luck in further adventures and battles with Illithids and other monstrosities!
