There are dozens and dozens of objects in Baldur's Gate 3 that you will likely have no idea what to do with when you first encounter them. Whether it's a random piece of paper or a seemingly meaningless object, such as a mirror or teddy bear, you might be inclined to hold onto these items, as they could be useful later on. While not all objects will prove to have a purpose in the future, that cannot be said for Infernal Iron in Baldur's Gate 3.

Infernal Iron is a piece of red and slate metal that is found in several locations across the different maps in Baldur's Gate 3. The metal has two main purposes: helping Karlach with her internal engine and making a unique armor set. Both of these purposes come into play when you meet Dammon, a trader who is found in a couple of different locations.

If you want to fix Karlarch's internal engine or want those unique pieces of armor, then you will need to find Internal Iron, and fast. Below, we have listed all of the known locations for the item in Baldur's Gate 3.

Infernal Iron locations in Baldur's Gate 3

As of now, I have run into roughly six different Infernal Iron locations through the start of Act 3. It's entirely possible I have missed some or simply haven't reached a few of its locations yet. However, for now, these are the locations I have found Infernal Iron at:

  • Blighted Village - Starting at the waypoint in the village, go into the building that is found right across from it and go inside the room with a spider web covering a hole in the floor. Use a fire spell to burn the web and then jump into the hole. Go up the ladder in the room to find a locked wooden chest, which has the Infernal Iron inside it.
  • Underdark Grymforge - From the waypoint at the Grymforge, go up the stairs behind you and find a man named Stonemason Kith. You will have to pass three different checks to examine some debris in front of you, but if you do, Kith will reward you with Infernal Iron.
  • Shattered Sanctum - Inside this location at the goblin camp, you can find Infernal Iron after defeating Dror Ragzlin and taking his key or unlocking the door behind where he's sitting. In his treasure pile, find another piece of Infernal Iron.
  • Zhentarim Hideout - The Zhentarim Hideout can be reached by going to Waukeen's Rest, going to the left of the burning inn, and heading inside the shed that has a bunch of crates in front of it. You will need to utter a passcode given to you by Rugan or kill the guard inside. Go through the basement and the hideout itself and eventually you will find two locked doors at the end of the area. This is guarded by two wolves and other guards, but the right door has a chest containing the metal.
  • Reithwin Town Mason's Guild - Venturing into the Shadow Cursed Lands will eventually bring you to Reithin Town. Here, you can find the Mason's Guild to the north of the Reithwin waypoint. On the back northern side of the guild, you can find a piece of Infernal Iron sitting out on a table under a roof outside.
  • Watcher Construct at South Span Checkpoint - If you have made it to Act 3 and the town of Rivington, you will head to the South Span Checkpoint at some point. This is located to the north of the Rivington waypoint. Here, you will be stopped by guards before entering the city. One of those guards is a giant metal construct named the Watcher. If you kill the Watcher, the lone piece of loot on its body is Infernal Iron.
