The Barbarian in Diablo Immortal.
April 26, 2023: We've checked over our Diablo Immortal Barbarian build.

If you want to destroy enemies with heavy attacks then this Diablo Immortal Barbarian build is for you. After decades of big, punchy combat, the Barbarian returns in Diablo Immortal to smash enemies into the ground yet again, and beta tests already suggest that it's perhaps the best leveling class around, and a must-have in any serious group.

Down below, we will be discussing what constitutes the best Barbarian build in Diablo Immortal. That's the best skills for leveling up, the best runes to choose, stat preferences, gear picks, set bonuses, and more. We'll even go over PVP picks and any changes you'll want to make when it comes time to raid with an eight-player group as well.

For more on Diablo Immortal, check out how to change classes on the fly. Being the first proper MMO in the franchise, alts are really needed. Instead, you just swap classes whenever you feel like. And if one of those happens to be of the holy discipline, our Diablo Immortal Crusader build should be your next port of call.

Diablo Immortal Barbarian build - Best skills for leveling

Skill
Lacerate
Cleave (replace with Wrath of the Berserker at 50)
Hammer of the Ancients
Chained Spear (replace with Sprint when able)
Whirlwind

At level eight, you should be able to fill out every skill slot on your screen, laying the foundation of any future build. This early on, though, you need to settle on the skills that'll help you level up with speed.

For that, refer to the table up above. The suggestions are the general consensus of the beta-playing community, who've been playing Diablo Immortal on and off for over a year.

If you've played a Barbarian in a Diablo game before, you'll know the simple idea behind this starting build: to group monster up and quickly burn them down. Chained Spear brings them in, Cleave sets up Bleed, Lacerate heals, and Whirlwind cuts through groups like butter. Hammer of the Ancients is there to deal with bosses and smaller groups.

Once you get it, swapping Chained Speed for Sprint is typically the way to go. Mobility will play a big part in surviving bigger, badder enemies, letting you focus on more offensive-minded gear.

Lastly, level 50 unlocks Wrath of the Berserker, another classic Barbarian skill that should go in place of Cleave. You'll have enough attacks to spam at this point, so swapping one out for a big Attack Speed and Movement Speed buff will ultimately pay off.

Whirlwind is one of the best skills for a Diablo Immortal Barbarian build.

Diablo Immortal Barbarian - Best Battle Pass legendary

The battle pass system in Diablo Immortal is not only a great source of experience when you've exhausted the quests in an area, but an easy way to score a Legendary item suited to your class as well.

When given the option, most would suggest taking The Remembered - an off-hand axe that includes the ability to turn Hammer of the Ancients into skill that both stuns and summons a battle companion. Given you'll be using Hammer of the Ancients all the way to max level, it's a no-brainer.

Diablo Immortal Barbarian Build - Best stats for gear and gems

Weapons
Armour
Gems
Damage, Strength, Fortitude
Strength, Fortitude
Life (Ruby), Armor Pen (Sapphire), Damage (Tourmaline)

When scrounging around for gear, you'll need to keep the prefered Diablo Immortal Barbarian stats in mind. They're a little different to past Diablo games; likely streamlined for the fast-paced mobile take on the franchise, but the fundamentals remain the same.

For the Barbarian, you want to look for Strength and Fortitude to create a proper balance between offense and defence. Given you're always fighting opponents head-on, some defensive capabilities are always going to be necessary. When it comes to weapons, though, always aim for the higher damage rating first. Stats can come second there.

When it comes to socketing equipment with gems, we're going against the grain here and suggesting you take Life gems (Ruby) against the rest. In second place is Armor Penetration, but with the gains from flat Damage stats seen in Tourmaline gem scaling terribly at higher levels, it sits at a distant third in terms of priority.

Chained Spear is a good skill to use in an early leveling Diablo Immortal Barbarian build.

Best legendary gems for Barbarians in Diablo Immortal

Trickshot Gem
Everlasting Torment
Lightning Core

Though you'll only really want to stuff these into gear you'll be sticking with for a long time, using the right Legendary gems for Barbarians can dramatically speed up your progress.

With these, there's a bit of a pecking order. If you can, you'll want the Trickshot Gem to be your main. It has loads of helpful perks for grinding through mobs. Everlasting Torment works almost as well, but if you have to fall back on Lightning Core, you'll at least be able to zap big bosses for massive damage. If you're lucky, that is.

Diablo Immortal Paragon level stats

Paragon Page
Skills
Vanquisher
Damage, Zeal

You'll only manage to get a few points into the Paragon system if you're leveling Barbarian as your first Diablo Immortal class, limiting your options somewhat as you close in on the max level.

To make the most of these points, you'll want to max out the damage boost from the Vanquisher page first of all. After that, just slot a point into Zeal to benefit from its five percent attack speed buff for as long as you can keep killing enemies after your tenth within six seconds. It really helps with resource generation, keeping things like Whirlwind from ever starving you for too long.

And that's all there is to say on the matter right now. This is more of a Diablo Immortal Barbarian leveling build right now, but we'll be fleshing it out with PVP picks and max-level raid builds after launch. Until then, check out the Lost Ark Berserker build for something similar.
