Batgirl's expansive cast continues to grow, as Ivory Aquino has now joined the project.
The casting has been confirmed by Variety, and Aquino will portray Alysia Yeoh. The addition of Aquino marks a landmark addition, as Yeoh will be the first transgender character to appear in the DC universe.

Batgirl Adds Ivory Aquino to Play the DCEU's First Trans Character
In the DC comics, Alysia Yeoh is a bartender and also Barbara Gordon's best friend. With Leslie Grace taking the cowl, it's almost certain Aquino will don the same role as depicted in the comics.
Aquino's casting was previously teased a few weeks, when Leslie Grace posted an Instagram story with the caption, "Barbara and Alysia" (via Batgirl Film News). Grace also tagged Yeoh, but the news was only confirmed recently.
Both Aquino and Yeoh are transgender. Yeoh's appearance marks the first openly trans character to appear in the DCEU and DC films in general.
Batgirl is currently filming and details have already leaked from the Glasgow set. Various props hint at references to Robin and even Lex Luthor, preceding the events of Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. We also received our first official look at Batgirl's costume.
Bad Boys For Life duo, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are directing Batgirl, with the film's premiere set for sometime this year on HBO Max.
