In a new trailer for The Batman, a major aspect of the movie is revealed, Batman's secret identity. The young Edward Nashton/Nigma, who went to school with Bruce Wayne, is as creepy as you'd expect. As a master puzzle solver, he figures out Bruce Wayne is The Dark Knight himself.
In true riddler fashion, it looks like he's very dedicated to using this secret against the Dark Knight. There have been reports that Riddler would try to blackmail the bat, but I don't think so—that doesn't sound like him at all. The trailer suggests that Riddler is setting up methods for the public to find out Wayne's secret.

The Batman Riddler
Is this a more accurate portrayal of the Riddler? Definitely not. Riddler's comic book counterpart was much more whimsical and comical. However, a real-life Riddler would be similar to this, a serial killer in the mold of Zodiac. Take a look at the picture below to see how much the Riddler has thought about this.
Two children are depicted on the wall, one of them is Bruce Wayne, and the other is Edward. Bruce's scribbled eyes and Edward's question mark allude to their future roles as Batman and Riddler. Perhaps most noteworthy is the written statement, "If only I knew then what I know now."

The Riddler seems to be taking center stage even though other Batman's Rogue Gallery members are supposed to appear. So this Batman movie is quite different from other Batman movies.
Batman's villains challenge his character in several ways. His rogues' gallery tests his intellect (Riddler), integrity (Joker and Ra's al Ghul), resolve (Catwoman, Poison Ivy, and Scarecrow), and physical prowess (Bane, Killer Croc, & Deathstroke). The Riddler shows us why Batman is the best detective in the world.
I look forward to seeing what happens.
