Battlefield 6 Could Feature 128 Player Multiplayer Matches, Leaker Suggests

Battlefield 6 might be a way away, but a longtime leaker has suggested it'll be the franchise's biggest entry yet - at least in terms of player count.

While the franchise popularised 64-player multiplayer, we could be about to get 128-player battles according to Tom Henderson.

Battlefield Multiplayer Player Count Doubled?

According to Henderson's Twitter account, the next game in the franchise has maps designed for more than 128 players, but 32 vs 32 will also be offered as a standard playlist.

Given the rise in popularity of the Battle Royale genre, it's perhaps no surprise to see developers shift to higher player-counts, especially given the launch of new platforms.

That also made it surprising when Battlefield V's delayed battle royale mode, Firestorm, remained locked to 64-players.

Would you play a 128-player Battlefield game? It bodes well that maps are being designed with it in mind, since shoehorning that many players on smaller maps sounds like a gameplay nightmare.

Still, we'd imagine if 32-player matches are in the mix, it would be safe to assume the middle ground of 64 is likely still possible.
