We officially know that a new Bayonetta sequel is in the works, but there's even more information out there. Given that Bayonetta 3 is finally out now, it seems like we have an awful long wait ahead of us until the Bayonetta 4 release date.
In this guide, we'll go over how we know Bayonetta 4 is being worked on, what platforms we can expect to find it on, alongside preorder information and everything else we know. Bayonetta has managed to secure a niche for itself, and Nintendo won't be letting go any time soon.

Is Bayonetta 4 confirmed?
As recently as August 2022, Hideki Kamiya, the director of Bayonetta 1, 2, and 3, announced that Bayonetta 4 is in the works. He has ideas for tonnes of different games in the series, according to the tweet linked in that Reddit thread. He has actually been saying this same thing since 2018, four years before the launch of the third game.
This being said, Hideki Kamiya has a bit of a reputation for having odd Twitter behaviour. Fortunately, we have something more concrete to back this up.

Still here? Okay...
At the end of Bayonetta 3, just after the credits, a short message pops up saying:
"To be continued in a new generation..."
That's as good a confirmation as any that the Bayonetta series is going nowhere!
When is theBayonetta 4 release date?
Bayonetta as a series has a bit of a reputation for having an unruly release schedule. The first game released in 2009, with a sequel landing five years later in 2014.
Then, we had to wait 8 years for the next game, releasing in 2022. Fans often worried the game would be delayed or outright cancelled, but it seems like it just needed a little bit more time.
This being said, we don't expect to see Bayonetta 4 release any time soon. With Bayonetta 3 announcing it will come in the next generation, it implies that it may be developed for whatever console Nintendo puts out next.
Which platforms will Bayonetta 4 be on?
Bayonetta 3 was published and partially funded by Nintendo, resulting in it releasing exclusively on Nintendo Switch. Though it technically could come to other consoles or PC in the future, it seems unlikely.
Given the game has a history on Nintendo, we imagine Bayonetta 4 will also be exclusive to its ecosystem of consoles. Given the teaser at the end of Bayonetta 3, it heavily suggests that the next game will skip the Switch, releasing on whatever Nintendo console arrives next. It's one to consider for the future, to be sure!
Bayonetta 4 pre order information
Though you can't pre order the game just yet, it seems likely that we will get some kind of special edition with extra goodies, and the ability to pre order it directly from Nintendo to get a physical copy of the game. We'll update you right here if anything changes in the future.
Now that you've learned all you can about Bayonetta 4, it's finally time to try out Bayonetta 3. If you're thinking of picking it up, we've got a look at the game's length.
