Binance airdrops BNB to users affected by earthquake in Turkey
After the recent Kahramanmaras earthquake in Southern Turkey and Syria, Binance has allocated $5 million worth of BNB to send to victims in the affected regions.
The first initiative alongside Binance Charity for helping victims has been the BNB airdrop worth 100 USD for Binance users residing in Turkey’s impacted regions. The exchange used a user’s proof of address to identify the right accounts.

From Binance’s statement:
Identification of the users will be based on Proof of Address (POA) completed before Feb 6th in 10 cities where the earthquake has had significant impact, including: Kahramanmaraş, Kilis, Diyarbakır, Adana, Osmaniye, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Adıyaman, Malatya and Hatay.
Despite the limitations of proof of address methods, Binance asserts that it is the best way to reach affected customers.
Alongside the airdrop, Binance Charity opened a public donation address for crypto users to send personal donations. The exchange aims to convert all public donations into TRY which will be sent to legitimate NGOs that are helping in the Turkish regions.
