Pokémon Legends: Arceus has arrived, and so far, fans and new players seem to be enjoying the game. While it differs a lot from the traditional Pokémon formula, many of these changes have been welcomed, especially the fact that we can get our hands on a new Scyther evolution, Kleavor, using Black Augurite.
For example, one change is that evolution is no longer automatic, and players get to choose when they evolve their Pokémon. They can also change their Pokémon's moves whenever and wherever, and there are even new Pokémon around Hisui that are rideable. This is to aid players with traversing the large, open-world areas of the region.
Another new Pokémon, Kleavor, has also been added to the mix. This 'mon is an additional evolution of Scyther, but in order to evolve it, players need Black Augurite first. This isn't the easiest item to forage for. In this guide, we've explained where you can find Black Augurite in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
How to Get Black Augurite in Pokémon Legends: Arceus
Black Augurite in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is 'A glassy black stone that produces a sharp cutting edge when split. It’s loved by a certain Pokémon.' It can be used to evolve Scyther into the new Pokémon, Kleavor, but where can you get it? There are three known ways of finding and getting Black Augurite, explained below.
Riding Ursaluna
Ursaluna is the second Pokémon that you will unlock as a rideable Pokémon, after Wyrdeer. This bear-like Pokémon can be used to hunt for buried treasure and has a knack for finding various evolutionary items while you're riding them.
Black Augurite can be found as buried treasure in the Crimson Mirelands, and while it's a rare find, it's not too difficult to actually get your hands on. Keep riding around on Ursaluna and finding treasure, and you'll be bound to have Black Augurite soon enough.
Chain-Catching Graveler
Another way of acquiring Black Augurite in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is through the act of chain-catching Graveler Pokémon. These Pokémon have the chance of holding Black Augurite whenever you go into battle with them.
However, there is less chance of a Graveler dropping Black Augurite than there is for you to find it with Ursaluna. The only exception to this is that there are more Graveler Pokémon in Crimson Mirelands than there are recurring treasure spots, so chain-catching Graveler may actually be a more effective use of your time. Ultimately, it's up to you!
That being said, if there is a mass outbreak of Graveler Pokémon, it's definitely worthwhile trying your luck getting Black Augurite this way.
A Nosepass to Guide the Way
After completing Mission 11: Scaling Perilous Heights, you will unlock Request 68: A Nosepass to Guide the Way. This request can be accepted from the board in Professor Laventon's lab in the Galaxy Hall, and is then continued by speaking with Gully at the Heavenward Lookout.
This request isn't difficult at all, and merely requires you to catch a Nosepass for Gully and give it to him. Once this is done, he will reward you with Black Augurite and two Exp. Candy M.
Those are the three different ways in which you can get yourself Black Augurite in Pokémon Legends: Arceus! Check out how to combat the likes of Alpha Pokémon and Noble Pokémon during your adventure, and don't forget to increase your inventory space for when that Black Augurite eventually drops!
