Behaviour Interactive have dished out the Christmas content in their latest update to Dead by Daylight. The Bone Chill event replaces the Winter Solstice event that fans are used to seeing, and sees the introduction of daily giveaways (like an advent calendar!), new Christmas cosmetics, and some sinister snowmen. The snowman mechanic is the only one which will impact your gameplay, so how does it work?
In this guide, we explain what the snowmen of Dead by Daylight's Bone Chill event do, and how you can use them.

How to Use Snowmen in Dead by Daylight
Dead by Daylight has temporarily introduced these sinister looking snowmen as a part of the Bone Chill event for Christmas. However, what do the snowmen actually do, and how should you be using them?
Every trial in Dead by Daylight will currently have six of these snowmen located around the map. Players can approach them and interact with them, using the snowmen as a form of cover as they move around. When it comes to using a snowman, survivors will be unable to run and will walk 15% slower, their aura is hidden from the killer and other survivors, and they will also be protected from one hit.
Once the snowman is destroyed, either by the survivor vacating it or the killer hitting it, it takes 20 seconds for another one to respawn and take its place. The snowman, however, is more than just a fun gameplay mechanic for players. Completing certain actions and tasks as the snowman can reap rewards for Dead by Daylight players this season, too.
By using the snowmen in Dead by Daylight to complete any of the following actions, players can earn exclusive, winter-themed items and cosmetics for their killers and survivors:
- As a survivor, use a snowman to protect yourself from a killer's attack.
- As a survivor, escape through the exit gates while inside a snowman.
- As a killer, hit a snowman that is hiding a survivor inside it.
The Dead by Daylight Bone Chill event of 2021 will end on December 23rd at 11AM ET/8AM PT, so be sure to get some games in before then. In the meantime, check out our ideas on what Chapter 22 might be, as well as all of December's promo codes.
