Boots on the ground returns to Call of Duty?
During their fourth quarter earnings call, Activision revealed several hints surrounding the future of its iconic first-person shooter, Call of Duty.
The Q4 report proclaimed the 2017 instalment would take the franchise “back to its roots,” also confirming the next game will be made by Sledgehammer Games, who first introduced the community to Exo Suits with Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.
Assuming this means Call of Duty will return to a 'boots on the ground' playstyle, this would be the first instalment to not feature the jetpack boosting trend since Call of Duty: Ghosts.
Statistics were also provided to show the growth of Call of Duty eSports, including COD World League viewership which delivered 120 million video views, double that of the previous season.
Sledgehammer’s instalment of the franchise is expected to be released in November 2017, but an official title or era hasn’t been announced yet.
