The trend of publishers and developers remastering classic titles doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon.
The Call of Duty franchise was one of the first to buck the trend of reworking and improving the graphical quality of its most popular titles. In late 2016, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare released, and for a bit of extra cash, a fully remastered copy of Call of Duty 4 was also included.
While the thought of taking a trip down memory lane and playing arguably the best Call of Duty multiplayer experience in the history of the franchise, the release of Modern Warfare Remastered (MWR) had a major impact on the player base.
With players wanting a fresh experience sticking with the futuristic setting of Infinite Warfare and those after a classic CoD experience opting to playing MWR.
Since the release of MWR, the only Call of Duty remaster to be released was the single-player campaign from Modern Warfare 2. While it looked and performed excellently, fans were frustrated at the lack of multiplayer and the somewhat hefty price tag.
With a couple of Modern Warfare titles receiving the remaster treatment, is there a possibility of a Black Ops title being the next one to receive a remaster?

Will Black Ops 2 Be Remastered?
The second entry into the Black Ops series is arguably one of the most popular and complete Call of Duty titles to be released.
Launched in 2011, 2021 will mark the tenth anniversary of the game and there are plenty of reasons as to why it should be celebrated with a remaster.
Set in 2025, Black Ops 2 featured a near-futuristic storyline which saw players attempting to stop the collapse of the world alongside a multiplayer that contained the greatest maps and some of the strongest weapons ever seen in the franchise.
Many players will still list Black Ops 2 as one of the very best CoD titles in the franchise, and a full-blown remaster to celebrate its tenth anniversary would certainly prove a hit with fans and publisher Activision.

No Signs…
Despite several calls from players for a Black Ops 2 remaster, there are currently no signs of a remastered version being released in the coming months.
This certainly isn’t great news for those wanting a remaster, but the last thing Activision wants to do after finally achieving some form of unity within the community is to split the player base across multiple titles again.
It could be a while until we see any kind of remastered CoD title.
