Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is now available across the world.
The latest instalment of the popular first-person shooter franchise sees players drop into the height of the Cold War with a brand-new campaign, multiplayer and zombies mode to experience.
Since its release on November 13th, one of the major talking points of multiplayer was the overall balance of the weapon arsenal.
While the MP5 and FFAR both received substantial modifications shortly after the release of the game, players were quick to find the next best thing to use in the form of the M16 and the AUG tactical rifles.
Effective in nearly every situation imaginable, the lack of weapon variety has been a hot topic of conversation amongst the Call of Duty community.
It may look like developer Treyarch has ignored the overpowered nature of the M16 and the AUG, but there is potentially good news on the horizon regarding a potential nerf.

M16 And AUG Nerf
According to notable Call of Duty leaker Tom Henderson, the M16 and AUG are set to undergo a “big nerf” in an upcoming update.

For those working their way through the camouflage challenges, it may be worth listening to Henderson regarding getting them gold while they are still overpowered.
The impending nerf is good news for players that want some form of weapon balance to return to the game.
During the pre-launch alpha and beta, the weapon balance was met with widespread positivity as there were numerous weapons that performed well, and almost no weapons that stood out from the rest of the arsenal.

When Will The Nerf Happen?
It is likely that the nerf will take place on December 10th, coinciding with the launch of Season One for Black Ops Cold War.
It isn’t just the AUG and M16 that are receiving some much-needed changes. Treyarch is already looking at making changes to the Flak Jacket Perk as many believe its resistance to explosives to be far too effective.
