Black Ops Cold War was announced as the new Call of Duty game for 2020 earlier this week and new details are slowly emerging as we get closer to launch.
Three months separate us from the Black Ops sequel and we received confirmation that the game is being built for the next-generation of consoles.
The Xbox Series X and PS5 will offer players the chance to upgrade for a small fee with the cross-gen bundle.
While the intricate details are still scarce, Activision did confirm that next-gen versions will feature higher FPS, ray-tracing and faster loading speeds.
Feature support was neglected in the announcements, but one console-specific feature was mentioned regarding the new PS5 DualSense controller.
Black Ops Cold War Will Support The PS5 DualSense Controller's Adaptive Triggers
An Activision developer has confirmed on the ResetEra gaming forums that Black Ops Cold War will utilise the adaptive triggers present in the PS5 DualSense controller.

"Hey sorry to ask about this in this thread but since it's about DualSense features and you're from Activision... Do you happen to know whether Black Ops Cold War will support adaptive triggers? Haptic feedback was mentioned somewhere. I have no idea which team you're on but thought I'd ask just in case you know :D"
To which ShutterMuster, Activision's Art Lead, confirmed it would. While no information about how they will work was provided, it's certainly a good sign.
This immersive feature can really unlock the full potential of gaming, giving players the ability to feel their actions in play.
Recently, Gamescom 2020's Ratchet And Clank demo described how using a double-barrelled shotgun would utilise the new triggers. By pulling the trigger down half-way, it would shoot once and players would feel resistance before firing a second.
Treyarch will announce more next-gen features at a later date but the potential for Call of Duty is massive.
While many may see it as an unnecessary add on, others will welcome its potential with open arms.
