Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War will reintroduce the undead after their absence in last year's Infinity Ward developed Modern Warfare reboot.
A new developer diary/deep-dive revealed that the team at Treyarch is committed to making zombies all about having fun and busting undead heads, while paying homage to the mode's history.
One way they're doing that is with the new map design.

You can check out the reveal footage below:
The game's first map, Die Maschine, features more than a hint at the franchise's history.
For one, players can find "Nacht de Untoten", the first zombies map from World at War within the map.
It looks as though the deeper players get into this creepy bunker, the more terrifying things they'll find - including zombies, luminous green monsters, and horrifically mutated zombie dogs.
As per a new blog post:
"While fighting to suppress the unnatural phenomena at this graffiti-skinned, boarded-up bunker, Requiem team members investigate what lies beneath this structure that’s been left to crumble after decades of disservice."
"Should they succeed, Requiem may uncover a cache of decades-old secrets that upend the global order."
There's a wealth of intel buried within the map as well, which should shed some light on the clandestine goings-on in the Zombies universe.
Aside from the confines of the bunker complex, there's a sizeable outdoor area shown in the reveal, too.
There, players can actually attempt to escape from the area via helicopter extraction, although this will result in seemingly hundreds of zombies appearing!
