A new Call of Duty x Warhammer 40K crossover is coming to Activision’s frenetic multiplayer shooter. Discovered in a recent datamine of the new Season 1 Reloaded update, the new crossover could almost be decreed heresy.
Artwork for the upcoming crossover was found within files following the Season 1 Reloaded update. Loading screen art featuring two new Modern Warfare 3 operators was found, recreated in the lavish Warhammer 40K art style.
Operator 1 shows Primarch of the Dark Angel, Interrogator-Chaplain Boreas can be seen in a loading screen depicting the Battle of Piscina IV. The crossover’s second operator, Helewise: Adeptas Sororitas was revealed in a loading screen featuring Pilgrims of Fire.
Via the very extensive Fumo Leaks Twitter account, it was revealed that the Call of Duty x Warhammer 40K crossover will also have its own event. This event will feature its own gorgeous medal art as well as a collection of boss battles for you to fight, just like the Warzone boss fights during the Diablo crossover.
The Warhammer 40K event will feature fights against the Baton Jailer, Swamp Monster (Fenbeast), Ogre Butcher and Mummy.
Excitingly, the new crossover event will also feature its own animations. One dataminer discovered references to execution animations that feature a “buzzsaw”, more than likely meaning the iconic Space Marine Chainsaw.
Warhammer 40,000 is seemingly going through a bit of a resurgence in the video games space. While the miniatures are as popular as ever, despite the rise of 3D-printed clones, the brand is going strong. On the other hand, the mid-season update for Warzone managed to completely break the game, with numerous players experiencing a variety of game-breaking issues.
Delayed until the second half of 2024, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is finally a reality. Coming to Xbox Series, PS5 and PC, the brutal action game will continue the battles of Captain Titus. This time, instead of fighting green-skinned Orcs, you’ll be battling the horrendous, terrifying Tyranids.
While that game is still quite a while away, the Call of Duty x Warhammer 40,000 crossover is hopefully a lot sooner. While CoD skins have ruined the series’ identity over time, Warhammer is very cool. That’s right, hypocrisy in action.
