If you were wondering if you can use a PS4 controller on a PS5, you're not alone.
Many people who have been either on the hunt for the next-gen console or have just bought one ask the same question, especially if they've got one of the many awesome PS4 controllers out there.
There is some good and bad news though, and we're here to clear up any confusion on the matter.
Here's whether you can use your favourite PS4 controller on PS5.
Can You Use A PS4 Controller On PS5?
Yes, you can, but there's a catch.
The PS5 DualSense's haptic feedback and adaptive triggers are made with PS5 games in mind and work in sync with them to create an overall more immersive, tactile experience.
What that means, is that PS4 controllers aren't compatible with PS5 titles that feature this and won't work.
What you can do, however, is use your PS4 controller on PS5 for backward compatible titles, so if you're playing any of your favourite 'classics' you should be good to go.
Can You Use Pro PS4 Controller On PS5?
If you've bagged one of the many pro-orientated PS4 controllers on the market you should be able to use it with PS5 in the same manner as above, that is, only with backwards compatible titles.
The good news is that if you do want to use a PS5 controller that has advanced features like paddles, button mapping, and even hair triggers, SCUF gaming has now unveiled its line of Reflex controllers for PS5 and PC.
The controllers are the first third-party gamepads since the PS5 release and they look seriously impressive.
Starting at close to $200, they're not cheap, but if you're investing in upping your game, they're a must-have in our opinion.
