Halo Infinite Campaign: Can You Change the Difficulty?

Once you have selected a difficulty in Halo Infinite and started the campaign you will not be able to change it later on. If you wish to switch to another difficulty you will need to start the campaign again. This is generally how Halo has always worked, but with Infinite's campaign being much longer and more open, it's an odd choice here. It's possible that 343 may add in the option later down the line, but for now, you will need to consider your choices carefully. We'll be sure to update this page if we hear more.

Difficulty Options - Which One Should You Choose?

There are four different difficulty options to choose from while playing Halo Infinite. They are as follows:

  • Easy
  • Normal
  • Heroic
  • Legendary

Which one you choose will depend on your experience with Halo. If this is your first Halo game, consider choosing Easy or Normal. Unlike previous Halo games, Halo Infinite has actually been developed with Normal difficulty as the default (Designers commented to VGC). In others it was Heroic, so bear that in mind. For experienced Halo players, or those that have been trying out the multiplayer, try Heroic or Legendary. Just prepare for a huge jump in difficulty.
