Nintendo fans have wanted a new Chibi-Robo game for the longest time, but low sales and poorly received spin-offs are preventing that from happening. Tiny Wonder Studio has had enough as they’re now making koROBO, a spiritual successor to the Gamecube classic in pretty much every way.
Developed by Tiny Wonder (via VGC), comprised of the original game’s developers, this new game is hoping to scratch that Chibi-Robo itch many fans have. In this game, players will control a small robot who helps clean up around the house and does chores for the family. Essentially, this is a new installment in the Nintendo IP in everything but name.
Fans interested in koROBO can support Tiny Wonder by going to their Kickstarter campaign and giving them money to help with the game’s development. Considering how fans have wanted a new game in this series for the longest time, this can be their chance to get a similar experience.
“The core of koROBO is all about bringing people together and working towards a better tomorrow and this campaign, combined with your support, is a wonderful opportunity to bring fans of video games together – something that would make our tiny hero proud!” wrote Tiny Wonder on their Kickstarter.
Chibi-Robo hasn’t had a new game since Zip Lash, a mediocre 2D sidescroller released on the 3DS back in 2015. While the tiny robot has had some other spin-off games, many will agree that the original Gamecube classic is still the best one. It’s somewhat surprising that Nintendo hasn’t remade this game for Switch like they did Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door but that’s their decision.
Now that fans are more nostalgic for Gamecube games, koROBO could be the catalyst for a brand-new Chibi-Robo game in the future. Until that happens, fans who want a new game in this unique genre should support koROBO on Kickstarter. The game doesn’t have a release date yet, but that can change in a few months.
