With Black Ops 6 out, tons of players jumped in to experience the newest installment. While the movement feels great and finally feels like a step in the right direction, adjusting to this new mechanic is certainly a hurdle. Especially if you’re someone who isn’t exactly considered a 'Movement King' in their squads.
This makes the overall feel of the game quite frustrating. Despite playing for several hours, we faced the same issues—until we made some changes. To ensure you don’t fall into the “frustration” rabbit hole, here are some Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Advanced Tips that’ll help you improve instantly.
Tweak Your Settings
Regardless of being a PC or console player, the importance of having the right settings goes without saying, especially with Black Ops 6.
Here are some changes we suggest:
Controller Settings
The first thing we’re going to discuss here is Sensitivity. While it mainly depends on your preferences, you may have to make some changes.
With Black Ops 6’s movement, players move faster than they used to in previous CoD titles. This means it is essential for you to be ‘snappy’ in intense gunfights.
To ensure that happens sooner rather than later, we suggest keeping your horizontal sensitivity one-fold higher than your vertical sensitivity. So, if a player’s Sensitivity were 6:6 prior, it would be 7:6 now.
Another thing you should be focussing on is the Deadzone Input, a setting that got reset to Default despite making changes in the Beta version. Generally, lowering your Left and Right Stick’s sensitivity is recommended. But if you’re facing drift issues with your controller, you can use the Test Stick Deadzone option to adjust accordingly.
Another tab you should change here is the Left and Right Trigger’s Deadzone. This helps you shoot faster without noticeable delays. In this case, bring the dead zone down.
Use Your Tactical Sprint Wisely
Tactical Sprint was already an essential tool for all players in previous CoD installments, but it’s critically important in this year’s edition.
With Omnimovement, you can move in any direction. This is where you need to be mindful of the Tactical Sprint. We’ve seen many players run across maps without any enemy in sight, essentially wasting this tool.
So when an opponent does come forward, there’s not much momentum to hit them with the movement. This is one of those things where you’ve got to be present when playing, subconsciously aware that your Tactical Sprint shouldn’t be utilized without any apparent threat.
Utilize the Slide-Prone Mechanic
There’s a new mechanic in Black Ops 6, which we haven’t seen many players know (or even use) about. This is the Slide-Prone Mechanic.
If you keep holding the Slide button on your controller long enough, your character will almost instantly lie down after completing its slide. So it’s like a snappy drop shot but with a slide.
While this isn’t groundbreaking, it makes a huge difference during gunfights, as players do not expect you to take a laid-down position right after a slide.
Many wait for a slide-cancel or a jump, which is why this new mechanic is an absolute game-changer. As a bonus, this game's prone position is quite funny. So you’re in for some laughs and a good time overall.
Don’t focus on overusing this mechanic. Focus more on key moments where you can effectively use this mechanic.
Using Melee For Unlimited Tactical Sprint
Whenever you sprint with your Primary or Secondary Weapons, there’s an allocated window within which your Tactical Sprint stays active before going into a cool-down period.
This doesn’t happen when you’ve equipped a Melee Weapon. So, if you’re an SnD player or like to rush enemy bases and surprise them, equipping the Melee Weapon while sprinting will make a huge difference.
While this increases your chances of being gunned down (since you don’t have a gun), it’s debatable in Black Ops 6, considering the freedom of movement you’re granted with Omnimovement. You can escape intense situations with a Melee Weapon if you've mastered it.
Utilize the Corner Slides
This concept within the CoD Community is called Peakers Advantage. It’s basically when you’re peaking through tight spaces or edges in a way that the enemy in front is generally more exposed than you, leading to easy elimination.
With Corner Slides, this concept got a major buff. When peaking through corners, you’ll notice your iron sight’s angle change slightly to orient accordingly to the corner. Unlike other CoDs where this wasn’t a thing, you were more prone to being exposed than you are now. You can also maintain this angle if you back off from the corner from which you were peaking.
So head over to the Settings and turn this option on. It can make a difference, especially in round-based modes like Search & Destroy.
