Thymesia is the latest soulslike to hit the market, but it's not something everyone can play straight away. A Thymesia PS4 and last-gen console port is a subject that needs covering. Playing as a dystopian plague doctor in a land ravaged by disease, you battle huge bosses as well as murky grunts during your time with the game - if you can get your hands on it.

In this Thymesia guide, we'll look at whether it is available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One or not. While most new releases still crop up on Sony and Microsoft's previous-generation consoles, a few notable examples such as Gotham Knights are going down the next-gen exclusive route. Does Thymesia follow that trend? Read on to find out.

Is Thymesia available on PS4 and Xbox One?

Sadly, there is no Thymesia PS4 port or Xbox One release as it stands. The game launched in August 2022 exclusively for PS5, Xbox Series S/X, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

It's sure to come as bad news to soulslike fans desperate to get their hands on the latest release in the genre. However, check any applicable storefront and you won't be able to find a previous-gen version of Thymesia anywhere.

As such, only those with the newest generation of consoles will be able to play Thymesia at this stage. Given the PlayStation 5 price increase, it's definitely a shame that so many potential players will have to miss out on its release.

However, one interesting caveat is the existence of a Nintendo Switch release. Rather than a proper core release, it's instead a cloud version. That seems to be a growing trend among the Switch, with other games like Guardians of the Galaxy also going down the cloud path.

Will Thymesia ever release on PS4 and Xbox One?

Given the presence of that Nintendo Switch version, we can never say never when it comes to a Thymesia port on PS4 and Xbox One. It's unclear as to why the game didn't already release on those consoles, given its relatively easygoing performance demands compared to other next-gen titles.

It's worth noting, though, that the Nintendo Switch version is a Cloud-based release that essentially runs the PC version of the game elsewhere and beams the image to the low-powered console. It isn't a case of a basic port existing on the Nintendo Switch that somehow can't run on last-gen consoles.

If the game turns out to be a hit with audiences, then the chances are that publisher Team17 may want to extend its rollout to those older consoles. Until that becomes official though, don't get your hopes up. For whatever reason, it opted solely for a next-gen console release. It may allow for better performance, but if other games like Saints Row can manage on previous-gen, why can't Thymesia? We may never know.

Therefore, there's no Thymesia PS4 port or Xbox One Thymesia release just yet. In case you want to learn about the game regardless, check out our Thymesia combat guide to see how battling works.
