As expected for 2023, there are plenty of new crypto coin releases and projects to watch this year.

2021 was a breakout year for cryptocurrencies such as Shiba Inu and Dogecoin, with Bitcoin reaching a new ATH.

While 2022 may have set the bar quite high, we're now almost a month into 2023 and in the midst of a bear market.

Cryptocurrency 2022 retrospective

As always, plenty of new cryptocurrency tokens were launched in 2022.

Kinship (KIN), Apecoin (APE), OpenDAO (OPN) and Optimism (OP) are among the most notable recent additions to the crypto market. The Optimism L2 airdrop also gained a significant amount of attention.

However, the standout cryptocurrency launch of 2022 was Luna 2.0 and Luna Classic. After the Luna crypto crash saw Luna drop by 99.9% in value, Terra opted to sever ties to the old chain.

Many traders might agree that 2022 was the year for meme coins. Meme tokens such as Shiba Inu (SHIB), Floki Inu (FLOKI), Dogecoin (DOGE) and Pitbull (PIT) took the crypto market for a ride and made or broke many traders.

Cryptocurrencies to watch in 2023

2023 will consist of a lot of exciting new crypto tokens and projects that aim to shake up the crypto industry.

Sui blockchain's possible upcoming SUI token will be one to watch as the SUI blockchain gains in popularity among crypto traders interested in new blockchain technology.

Aptos (APT), Flare Network (FLARE) and Luna Classic (LUNC) tokens can also be included as coins that may pop in the coming months.

On Solana, Bonk (BONK) a community meme coin has attracted a lot of attention from the market and will be one to watch in 2023.

Bitcoin and Ethereum should be on everybody's watch lists. As Bitcoin enters 2023 on a bearish trend, Ethereum will see numerous network enhancements following the Ethereum merge.

However, as with all new cryptocurrencies, users must do their own research and due diligence around every single token before investing further.
