Floki Inu and Binance will go head-to-head on Sunday in the first crypto derby as Italian football clubs Napoli and Lazio meet in Serie A.
Binance announced its shirt sponsorship of Lazio in October, while Floki confirmed earlier this week it will feature on the back of Napoli shirts, setting up a crypto-based rivalry.
UK-based fans can watch the match on BT Sport 1. The last time the two teams met, it ended 5-2 in favour of Napoli.
Floki Inu Vs Binance Crypto Derby
Of course, this isn’t as concrete a head-to-head as a Shiba Inu vs Floki Inu rivalry. Floki is a memecoin, or a crypto token, while Binance is a cryptocurrency exchange.
However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t some slight tension. Binance has yet to list Floki Inu on its exchange.
Crypto trader Nick Hellmann offered Binance a wager on Twitter, asking the exchange to list Floki if Napoli wins.
The teams won't be the only crypto-sponsored elements of the match. The exchange Crypto.com, which also took over the naming rights to the Staples Center, powers the goal-line technology.
The official Floki Inu account tweeted yesterday about the upcoming derby, celebrating the further adoption of cryptocurrency. “Crypto truly is going mainstream and we're proud to be a part of it!” it said.
Napoli is just one of Floki Inu’s football partnerships. The memecoin based on Elon Musk’s puppy partnered with Cádiz CF and Kerala Blasters last week.
Floki Inu currently costs $0.00014019, down 12.8% in the past 24 hours (via CoinGecko).
