In Phasmophobia, there are six Cursed Possessions, and one of them will always spawn on each map you explore. Of the six items, the Summoning Circle is one that requires players to have particular pieces of equipment with them already. Beyond that, it's rather straight forward to use, but it can be dangerous, too.

In this guide, we explain how to use the Summoning Circle in Phasmophobia.

How To Use the Summoning Circle

The Summoning Circle, as a Cursed Possession, can be pretty easy to find and identify in Phasmophobia. It's certainly not an item that'll be missed, anyway. The circle itself takes the form of a large pentagram on the floor, with red or black candles at each of its points.

The Summoning Circle will typically spawn in larger rooms where it's easier to use, but it can also spawn in smaller rooms such as bathrooms too, so don't neglect those areas. To then activate the Summoning Circle, players will need to acquire a Lighter and then light each of the five candles around it. If players do not have a Lighter with them, they're out of luck when it comes to using the circle.

Once all five candles of the Summoning Circle are lit, the ghost will appear inside it in their physical form. Players can use this opportunity to use the camera and capture photos of the ghost, but they have to be quick.

After 5 seconds of the ghost being summoned, they will break free of the circle and then immediately begin a cursed hunt. During a cursed hunt, players cannot attempt to use a Crucifix to protect themselves... we do, however, have some tips on what to do during the hunting phase here, so that you and your team can try to stay alive.

Activation of the Summoning Circle will count as a ghost event, so it will contribute towards optional objectives. The circle can only be used once per contract, but it is incredibly useful for completing extra objectives and snapping photo evidence.

That's all there is to the Summoning Circle in Phasmophobia, so be sure to always bring a Lighter with you in case it spawns.
