Dead Island 2 Message in a Bottle Side quest walkthrough
If you're worried about this particular side quest containing spoilers, you're in luck! This quest doesn't relate to any part of the main story so there's no chance of seeing anything that will ruin the ending. With that said, here's our full quest walkthrough.
Starting the quest
To start the Message in a Bottle side quest, head to Santa Monica beach near the pier. You'll come across a light blue marker signalling the start of the quest.
If you're struggling to find it, keep a lookout for the blue icon on the head-up display and you'll come across it in no time at all.
The clues
Once you've started the quest, you'll have access to a journal written by a food critic that's not had the best of times in Santa Monica. Make your way to the Bucket o' Fish restaurant and head into the basement. Inside is a review of the aforementioned restaurant. Grab it and it'll reveal where the critic is headed next.
The clue reads that "the military have set up a landing pad right by its front door," meaning the next place you need to visit is the Pier Grill restaurant next door.
This clue is on the patio table at the front of the restaurant. There's no sign of the critic but the note reveals where they're on the way next. Somewhere where food is "greasy, unpleasant, and most importantly FAST!" This time around, the critic is on their way to the Hot Dog Shack located northeast of the pier.
After you've found all three clues, you'll eventually come across A.R Oliver, the now infamous food critic. Instead of finding another survivor, you're greeted by a putrefied Slobber capable of dealing plenty of damage if you're not equipped with strong weaponry.
