Destiny 2 Hawkmoon Exotic Guide: Feather Locations and Everything We Know About The Beyond Light Hand Cannon So Far

UPDATE:

Bungie now allows for players that already have Hawkmoon to earn randomly rolled variants.

We've got the God Roll here, as well as how to earn it.

Original Story Follows:

Destiny 2's Beyond Light expansion is finally here, but Bungie is continuing to roll out content for the loot-shooter.

One of the most exciting additions is the reintroduction of Hawkmoon, an Exotic Hand Cannon that was once a PS4 exclusive during the first game's timeline.

Here's why it's worth getting.

Destiny 2 Hawkmoon Guide

Compared to a weapon like Cloudstrike that offers an actual lightning storm, Hawkmoon's exotic perk may sound a little more pedestrian.

Thanks to "Luck In The Chamber", one random bullet in the magazine does extra damage.

The "Holding Aces" perk allowed an extra two random bullets to do the same, meaning your magazine size of 13 could clear out more enemies than you'd perhaps expect.

From experience, the gun was impressively powerful in PvP content.

Beyond Light brings in sizeable changes to Hand Cannons.

According to a Bungie blog post:

"Hand Cannons: We're making changes to give hand cannon subfamilies more diversity, and more reasons to use each."

Hawkmoon falls into the "Aggressive" category.

"Aggressive  Increased RoF from 110 to 120. Broke out Aggressive Hand Cannons, allowing custom tuning of stats (e.g. damage falloff for 100 range in this subfamily now starts at 32m)."

Destiny 2 Beyond Light: How To Get Hawkmoon

Hawkmoon's quest can be started by visiting Spider in the Tangled Shore. He'll send you to hunt down feathers, the first of which can be found directly outside of his lair.

The others, though, are significantly harder to find.

Second Feather

Head to the EDZ for this one, and spawn at The Sludge.

On the furthest building is a walkway that faces north, and you'll find the feather on top.

Third Feather

Staying on Earth but this time the Cosmodrome, spawn in at The Steppes.

A concrete pillar is directly to your right once you arrive, and you can hop on top to claim the third feather.

Fourth Feather

This time you'll need to go to The Dreaming City. Here, head across the Divalian Mists to the large, ornate gateway that would usually take you towards the Blind Well.

Before you go through, hop on the plinth to the left of the gateway to find feather number 4.

Fifth Feather

This one is a bit of a pain, but you'll essentially need to head to Archer's Line on the Moon and use a passageway at the east to head into the underground catacombs below.

Follow it all the way to the Shrine of Oryx (a huge room with a smaller room underneath the central structure). On the opposite side of the room, you'll find the feather next to the ramp.

Speak to Crow

Crow will give you the "Let Loose Thy Talons" quest.

Cry From Beyond

Head to the EDZ (the Sludge is an ideal spawn point) and begin the mission.

Fight through the Taken, and claim the effigy of Hawkmoon at the end.

Speak to Crow

Head back to Crow, and he'll move the quest along.

Generate and Collect 50 Orbs of Power

Grab a masterworked weapon and run a lost sector or two until you have the requisite orbs.

Speak to Crow

Crow will give you some coordinates this time.

Investigate The Coordinates

Head to Trostland in the EDZ and follow the waypoint to commune with the bird. Nice and easy.

Collect The Feathers

This step is pretty simple, requiring you to grab feathers as you follow a linear path.

Speak to Crow

Yes, again.

Kill Champions or Guardians

If you enjoy PvP, this one will fly by, but if not, prepare to run a lot of Legend Empire Hunts or Legend Lost Sectors to find champions.

Champions are arguably easier since they're a smaller number, while you'll need to kill 200 Guardians in PvP gulp.

Hawkmoon Reforged

Back to the EDZ for the final quest step, and you'll be fighting your way through the Taken again.

You'll get Hawkmoon towards the end of the quest, and can then use it on the boss. Happy days!
