March 2, 2023: Lightfall is out and we've checked our information

Itching for more loadout space? Need to learn how to unlock more loadout slots in Destiny 2 Lightfall? This much-requested feature is finally coming to the game in early 2023, but we won't have access to every available slot on launch. If you're someone who is a build crafter and wants to have access to them, then our guide will tell you exactly how to do it.

Up until now, we've have had to use external tools such as Destiny Item Manager to store and equip our builds. Given there are so many different activity types requiring different gear setups in the game, this was a major hassle.

How to unlock more build slots in Destiny 2 Lightfall

So all of this sounds great. But the picture we have below shows that some of the slots are locked. How do we unlock more slots? Well, Bungie has the answer for us. There are going to be ten total slots for players to unlock, and in order to get them, we'll need to progress through the new Guardian Ranks system.

For those who are new to the game, you'll have only a couple of baseline build slots available, and as you progress through the system, you'll unlock more. For veteran players, you'll start at Guardian Rank six, which will give you six slots. By completing the "Flawless, Solo and Legendary" objective on your way to rank seven, you will unlock the remaining four loadout slots.

What are Destiny 2 Lightfall loadout slots?

For anyone who doesn't know, loadout slots in Destiny 2 Lightfall are essentially a save state of your character. This includes any weapons and armour that is equipped to your character (and any equipped mods), as well as your subclass, ability choices, as well as aspects and fragments.

Typically, you'll have loadouts for various activities such as Raids, Nightfalls, and PvP. With the new 3.0 subclasses, and Strand to come, you may want to have access to a few different builds.

This new loadout system allows for that. This new system will give you the ability to save a build to a set number of slots, and be able to view what's there in a quick and easy fashion so you know what each one is.

And that's how you unlock more loadout slots in Lightfall! While you're here, if you're looking for more RPG content, be sure to check out some of our Hogwarts Legacy content, such as our full quest list, our guide to unlocking more gear slots, and our guide to getting the Elder Wand.
