Not only does Destiny 2 The Final Shape deliver a bombastic ending to the decade-long Light and Darkness saga, but it also adds several new activities to conquer. One of the most important is the new Destiny 2 Overthrow activity that you can take part in while exploring The Pale Heart of the Traveler.

Destiny 2 Overthrow Explained
Overthrow is a brand-new Public Event activity found in The Pale Heart in Destiny 2 The Final Shape. To complete Overthrow, you have to defeat waves of enemies to progress through three tiers, at which point a unique boss spawns depending on which region of The Pale Heart you are in.
Similar to Terminal Overload and Escalation Protocol, the objective of Overthrow is relatively simple. You need to earn 1000 points to progress through each tier, with normal kills granting one point, high-value targets granting bonus points, and completing objectives offering an additional 450 points.
You’ll want to bring your best add-clearing build with you as you’ve got to kill lots of weaker enemies before the boss eventually spawns. Occasionally, an objective will spawn that will award you with more activity points to progress through each tier faster. These objectives can be more complex than you might expect, especially if you’re playing by yourself, such as collecting and depositing motes or destroying Taken blights.
What sets Overthrow apart from other Public Event patrol activities is that you’re likely to be doing it solo. Since The Pale Heart is a completely single-player destination unless you initially form a pre-made Fireteam of other players before heading to this destination, you’ll have to beat Overthrow by yourself. You will not see random players walking around that can help you beat Overthrow unless you choose to before starting. Luckily, there’s little punishment for dying, so as long as you can kill the enemies, then you’ll be able to complete Overthrow.
With The Pale Heart having three main zones, there are also three unique versions of Overthrow, each with a different boss:
- Overthrow: The Landing
- Overthrow: The Blooming
- Overthrow: The Impasse - Rhuna, Subjugator of Chasms
Destiny 2 Overthrow Rewards
The rewards for completing Overthrow include:
- Pale Heart destination weapons
- Traveler’s Blessing destination mods
- Luminescent Seed
- Glimmer
- Legendary Engrams
It is also possible that the brand-new Exotic class items will be earned by completing Overthrow. However, Bungie explains that these, Exotic class items are unlocked by completing a new activity that unlocks after the Raid World First, at the beginning of Week 2.
Traveler’s Blessing destination mods are part of a new mod system that gives you additional bonuses while in The Pale Heart. So, if you’re looking to make Overthrow easier, then make sure you’ve got some of these mods active. Examples of these include Traveler’s Valor, a Pale Blessing, and Traveler’s Fervor, a Flickering Blessing.
As for Luminescent Seeds, these are used to complete additional mysteries inside The Pale Heart, though that’s all that’s been revealed so far.
