If you’re anything like me, then you’ve always wanted a boss rush mode in Destiny 2. Well, that dream finally came true with the Destiny 2 Pantheon mode added as part of the Into The Light update. Delivering the ‘greatest hits’ of D2 raid bosses, Pantheon is a challenging but exciting gauntlet.
Pantheon can also be an incredibly rewarding mode if you can stomach the PvE challenge each week in Into The Light. You might not expect that Pantheon is the perfect opportunity to get your hands on some of the best gear in the game, whether you’re a veteran or a fresh-faced New Light. Since it takes you through several different raids and encounters, you can take a punt at a diverse loot table without having to progress through each raid in full. So, here’s all there is to know about the Destiny 2 Pantheon mode, from how it works and the bosses you’ll face to all the loot up for grabs.
Destiny 2 Pantheon explained
Pantheon is a new six-player endgame activity in Destiny 2 Into The Light that pits Guardians against several raid bosses of increasing difficulty with the simple goal of reaching the end and beating the final stage.
Pantheon has additional modifiers active that add another layer of challenge compared to the original raid encounters, as well as a scoring system. Thankfully, there are checkpoints after each encounter, so you don’t need to clear Pantheon in a single run.
Each week until Tuesday, May 21, 2024, another raid boss encounter will be added to Pantheon and the difficulty will be raised. Thankfully, knowing the order of the Pantheon bosses can help you prepare, as you can ensure you know the mechanics like the palm of your hand and have all the gear you need ready to good. However, it’s worth noting that the mechanics are slightly tweaked in The Pantheon to up the difficulty. Generally, this means your team has to be slightly more organized overall.
Unfortunately, The Pantheon will be removed from Destiny 2 on Monday, June 3, 2024, ahead of the launch of The Final Shape.
All Destiny 2 Pantheon bosses in order
You will fight the Destiny 2 Pantheon bosses in the following order:
- Golgoroth (King’s Fall)
- Caretaker (Vow of the Disciple)
- Macrocosm/Zo’aurc (Root of Nightmares)
- Atraks-1 (Deep Stone Crypt)
- Oryx (King’s Fall)
- Rhulk (Vow of the Disciple)
- Riven (Last Wish)
- Nezarec (Root of Nightmares)
As you can see, you need to have a solid understanding of raid bosses from across five of Destiny 2’s raids. While that can be very daunting to hear at first, the good news is that, if you haven’t already beaten these raids, all you have to do to complete Pantheon is learn the individual boss encounters. Puzzles? Parkour? Throw them out of the window - it’s just bosses in Pantheon.
Remember though, Pantheon is updated each week with an additional stage and increased Power difficulty rating. Pantheon Week 1 only has the first four stages, ending at Atraks. However, Pantheon Week 4 has all eight stages, concluding with Nezarec.
Destiny 2 Pantheon loot table and rewards
The Destiny 2 Pantheon loot table and rewards include:
- Legendary raid weapons (including Deepsight drops)
- An Adept raid weapon for achieving a Platinum score
- Raid Exotic weapons as part of the Divine Weaponry quest
This makes Pantheon a very rewarding activity, especially if you can earn a high score. It’s also a great way to finish your collection of raid weapons and Exotics if you haven’t yet. I recommend hopping in and giving it a go even if you're relatively new to raiding in Destiny. Just make sure you read up on the individual bosses beforehand or find a team using the Fireteam Finder that's willing to guide you.
Pantheon Exotic raid weapons:
Pantheon’s Divine Weaponry quest, tasking you with completing The Pantheon on any difficulty and then beating either the Rhulk or Nezarec stage, will reward you with two Exotic raid weapons. You can pick from one of the following Exotics after each quest step:
- Conditional Finality (Root of Nightmares)
- Collective Obligation (Vow of the Disciple)
- Eyes of Tomorrow (Deep Stone Crypt)
- One Thousand Voices (Last Wish)
- Touch of Malice (King’s Fall)
While you can’t really go wrong with any of these weapons, I recommend choosing Conditional Finality and Touch of Malice or One Thousand Voices. These are incredibly powerful and sought-after weapons, so if you don’t already have them, now’s your chance. If you’ve already got these in your collection, then you’re better off just picking whatever you have yet to earn.
Pantheon Legendary raid weapons:
Completing encounters in Pantheon can reward you with one of the following Legendary raid weapons:
- Acacia’s Dejection (Root of Nightmares)
- Briar’s Contempt (Root of Nightmares)
- Koraxis’ Distress (Root of Nightmares)
- Mykel’s Reverence (Root of Nightmares)
- Nessa’s Oblation (Root of Nightmares)
- Rufus’ Fury (Root of Nightmares)
- Smite of Merain (King’s Fall)
- Cataclysmic (Vow of the Disciple)
- Deliverance (Vow of the Disciple)
- Forbearance (Vow of the Disciple)
- Insidious (Vow of the Disciple)
- Lubrae’s Ruin (Vow of the Disciple)
- Submission (Vow of the Disciple)
- Bequest (Deep Stone Crypt)
- Commemoration (Deep Stone Crypt)
- Heritage (Deep Stone Crypt)

Pantheon Adept raid weapons:
Achieving a Platinum score in an encounter in Pantheon can reward you with an Adept weapon from the following pool:
- Smite of Merain
- Qullim’s Terminus
- Insidious
- Acasia’s Dejection
- Zaouli’s Bane
- Rufus’ Fury
These Adept drops are weekly rewards, meaning you can’t farm them like the standard Legendary loot pool.
