We've yet to see Detective Pikachu 2 after being announced in 2019. Scheduled to launch on Switch, the lack of news has been worrisome for fans, but a recruitment post from Creatures Inc. confirmed that this upcoming sequel is still in development.
The Creatures Inc. post (transcribed by VGC) reveals that a programmer named “KT” is working on Detective Pikachu 2. Reportedly, that involves "programming the drawing area, while also creating a system in the Environment Development Office that will serve as the foundation for future game production in general."
Recruitment Post Confirms Detective Pikachu 2 is Still in Development
It’s fair to say that Detective Pikachu rose in popularity after the 2019 movie starring Ryan Reynolds. Detective Pikachu 2 was later announced for the Switch, alongside rumours of an enhanced port for the first game, adding new content to the story.
Fans can currently catch the Pokémon: Detective Pikachu movie on Blu-ray or digital releases. The original Detective Pikachu game on 3DS is also available, but fans might want to pick up a copy before the 3DS eShop closes next year.
