New details surfaced last week on the next patch for Diablo 2: Resurrected which will finally introduce the ranked ladder to the game, and even more details were announced during a community Livestream hosted by MrLlamaSC.
During the discussion, Design Lead, Robert Gallerani provided further details surrounding the release of the ladder, and that each season will be 4 months long.
"Three months is too quick," Gallerani says. Six months is too long and five just feels off considering twelve months in a year.
The team settled on four-month seasons, which sees three unique seasons in a year, which is the better scenario for all types of players.

Diablo 2: Resurrected Ladder Seasons Will Be 4 Months Long And Have Exclusive Content
Players will have four different ladders to choose from when they go to create a new character, the standard ladder, the hardcore ladder, the standard expansion ladder, and the hardcore expansion ladder.
Players will also be able to use a number of new Rune Words that have never been seen before in the game and will be exclusive to seasonal ladder players, and unavailable to offline characters.
These Rune Words will make their way to other versions of the game after the ladder season has ended, and the Developers are looking to add new Runes Words at the beginning of each season.
All this and more are expected to be tested on the Diablo 2: Resurrected PTR, which will go live early in the new year.
