Upgrading your healing potions and crafting elixirs can make a massive difference to your gameplay. The Diablo 4 Alchemist can help you craft some of the strongest elixirs in the game that can boost your cooldown reduction, damage against monsters, attack speed, and more.
We will go over how to unlock the Alchemist in Diablo 4 and what items you should be looking to upgrade. But before that, consider checking out our Diablo 4 review to know our thoughts on the game. We also have a Sorcerer class guide in case you want to become a powerful magic wielder.
Diablo 4 Alchemist: How to unlock
When you reach level 10, you will receive a Priority Quest that asks you to visit the Alchemist in Kyovashad. To complete the quest all you need to do is upgrade your Weak Healing Potion to a Tiny Healing Potion. Before you head to the Alchemist make sure you have eight Gallowvine, which you will need for the upgrade.
After the Priority Quest is complete, you will gain access to the Alchemist’s services. If you use the alchemist a lot, you will need to stock up on Gallowvine for all your transmutation, upgrade, and crafting needs.
Diablo 4 Alchemist: All services
Here are all of the services on offer from the Alchemist in Diablo 4.
Potion Upgrades: You will be able to increase the amount of Life granted by your Healing potions. The cost of upgrading your potions is fairly low and you should be able to obtain the necessary resources and gold fairly easily up until level 90.
Elixirs: You can craft elixirs at the Alchemist to gain various buffs. From bonus Critical Strike Chance to reduced Lightning damage, there are plenty of offensive and defensive buffs to choose from. Elixirs last for 30 minutes and all elixirs also boost your XP gain by 5%, which can help you level up faster.
Refinements: You can ‘refine’ resources in Diablo 4 with the help of Alchemists. You can upgrade, downgrade or transmute materials to your liking.
Incense: Unlike elixirs, incense can buff all players in a large area. Incenses of the same type do not stack so if you are in a party of four, you want to use four different buffs to give your entire party a large selection of buffs.
We recommend farming as much Gallowvine as possible as you will need the resource every time you want to use the Alchemist’s services. Setting time aside for Gallowvine farming runs might be a good idea in case you want to hoard elixirs and sell them via trade to make Gold.
