September 13, 2023: Learn the best strategy in beating the Lilith's Lament boss in Diablo 4.

The Diablo 4 Lilith's Lament boss is encountered early in the campaign. It acts as a test to see if your character is ready for more challenges ahead.

Our Diablo 4 Lilith's Lament boss guide takes a look at how you can defeat this foe, as well as the ideal tactics to avoid needless deaths. Moreover, we discuss a particular item that will become useful throughout your run.

How to beat Lilith's Lament in Diablo 4 season 1

The Diablo 4 Lilith's Lament boss is encountered during Act 1 - Descent. Thankfully, this isn't the Mother of Sanctuary herself, as that would be too shocking if we fought her too early in our playthrough. Rather, it's a creature that's an amalgamation of pustules and corruption, left behind in the dark depths.

Lilith's Lament boss abilities

The Diablo 4 Lilith's Lament boss has the following abilities that you'll need to watch out for:

  • Red Rage Whip - This is a frontal cone attack that's easily avoided. You'll see a red arc in front of your opponent, which will give you ample time to move sideways.
  • Blood Waves - Oftentimes, your foe will cause up to three waves of boiling blood to cascade from the sides of the arena. Likewise, this spell can be cast in quick succession, too. It's imperative that you find a gap that you can move to so you can avoid the damage.
  • Shadowbolt Barrage - This spell is cast sporadically. Basically, several small darkness orbs will fly toward your character. Due to the speed of the projectiles, it's impossible to dodge all of them unless you cast an immunity-causing ability.
  • Crimson Death - This is the boss' "ultimate" ability of sorts. The entire room will be covered in red arcs, which will then drain the HP of anyone standing on the floor. Thankfully, someone will arrive to help you out.
When you see that bubble appear, stand in its aura to become temporarily immune to all damage.

The Penitent Knight and Vigo's Protective Amulet

The Penitent Knight, a gargantuan armor-clad figure, will arrive to aid you. This is none other than Commander Vigo, who wants to atone for his transgressions. When you see Crimson Death being cast, a bubble will also appear around the Penitent Knight. Stand within its aura to negate all damage.

Sadly, after defeating the Diablo 4 Lilith's Lament boss, Vigo will also succumb to his wounds. Perhaps the only good thing to come out of this is a special accessory called Vigo's Protective Amulet. This legendary item has a notable perk that creates the same immunity bubble when you're below 80% HP (this effect can only happen once every 90 seconds).

Personally, I think that this particular perk or Legendary Aspect is one of the most useful in the entire game. When it procs, it can save your character's life. Still, it's also possible to see this type of roll on other legendaries, albeit randomly, so this is the only one that's guaranteed.

And that's how you beat the Diablo 4 Lilith's Lament boss in Act 1. Don't forget that this is just the start of your journey.
