For many of us trophy hunters out there, we want to know whether or not our hard work will be displayed when we upgrade from PS4 to PS5.
The PlayStation trophy system is a rewarding experience for many and adds depth to their gaming profile and allows friends to see their achievements, so, do they carry over to PS5?
Here's everything you need to know!
Do PS4 Trophies Transfer Over To PS5?
Simply, yes, PS4 trophies do carry over to PS5 when using the same PlayStation profile.
In fact, all trophies from PS3, PS Vita and PS4 will show on the PS5 profile, appearing in chronological order by most recently unlocked.
However, PS5 does implement changes when it comes to trophies, with a new levelling system in place.
What Are The New Trophy Levels On PS5?
Don't worry, Sony are still keeping the classic, bronze, silver, gold and platinum trophy system, the main change comes in form of new trophy levels.
On PS4 players profiles were previously levelled from 1-100, based on their trophies, this has now been changed with there being 1-999 trophy levels.
This change was introduced shortly after the release of the PS5, however, it is now implemented on PS4 too.

Does PS5 Capture Trophies?
On PS4, whenever you unlocked a trophy, the console would automatically screenshot your accomplishment and save it alongside the trophy.
The PS5 takes this one step further by automatically recording when a trophy is achieved, meaning you can rewatch the moment you secured all your trophies in stunning 4K.
For many, this is an exciting feature as it allows them to look back at the exact moments of their achievements, however, for some, it raises concerns about PS5 storage space.
There is no need to worry, if you wish to save as much space as possible on your PS5, you disable this feature, or if you want the best of both worlds you can always extend the internal storage with a compatible M.2 SSD.
Which Games Support Auto-Populated Trophies On PS5?
When it comes to trophies, whilst progress does sync across console generations, there is also support for Cross-Save, which allows for the simultaneous awarding of trophies for supported games.
In essence, if you earned a Platinum trophy for a game on your PS4 and it's a compatible title on PS5, then you'll also nab the trophy on PS5 once you transfer your save files over. Here's a selection of the support games:
- Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time
- Destiny 2
- Marvel's Spider-Man Miles Morales
- No Man's Sky
- Outriders
- Rainbow Six Siege
- Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2
