Doctor Strange 2 Trailer Teases the Appearance of the Illuminati

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the next upcoming MCU film, and fans can catch a glimpse at what’s to come.

The new trailer premiered last night, following a 30-second spot during Super Bowl LVI. Steven looks to be traversing a mind-bending journey through space and time, while possibly coming face-to-face with a cult group of superheroes.

Doctor Strange 2 Trailer Teases the Appearance of the Illuminati

Across this footage, we got a new look at a conflicted and more powerful Scarlett Witch than we've seen in past MCU movies. One segment is particularly eye-catching, as the Doctor confronts a mysterious panel of figures, which could be the Illuminati.

In the comics, the Illuminati is a powerhouse group of Marvel heroes. The ensemble has varied from Iron Man to Mr. Fantastic and to even Professor Xavier. What’s incredibly interesting is at 1:19 in the trailer, the individual sounds a lot like Patrick Stewart’s Professor X.

The re-appearance of Stewart is certainly plausible. Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire both brought their characters back to life in No Way Home, so Marvel isn't afraid of experimenting with different universes.

And it's already being rumoured that Doctor Strange 2 has a multitude of cameos, one of which could be a former Spider-Man actor. With the multiverse wide open, don’t be surprised if the 81-year old British actor does reprise his role as the telepathic mutant.
