The PSVR has been with us for five years and is arguably now a legacy offering, and with the PS5 being new and shiny by comparison, it would be nice to know if the original PSVR works with the PS5 so you don't miss out on a great experience.
After all, the PS5 is quite the console already, with support for ray-tracing and the potential to support 8K and VRR in the future, for instance.
Here's everything you need to know whether the original PSVR works with the PS5, alongside what to expect in terms of supported games.
Does PSVR Work With PS5?
In short, yes. The original PSVR system is fully compatible with PS5, meaning you can play supported titles on Sony's newest console.
There is a small catch though - in order to do this, Sony's own guide says you'll need to purchase a PlayStation Camera adaptor and a PlayStation®Camera* for PS4™.
However, if you utilised the PSVR with the PS4, then you should have the camera handy, making it a simple case of picking the adaptor up, which is easier than you might think.
If you do own an original PSVR headset, then Sony is offering the chance to get the camera adaptor for free.
Will DualSense Work As A PSVR Controller?
Unfortunately, whilst Sony's latest controller is a marked improvement over its predecessor, it isn't the best controller for PS5 when it comes to VR.
As the PSVR headset is fundamentally a legacy offering, it makes sense that the original controllers are the ones that work. For this, you'll either need a DualShock 4 controller, or a PlayStation Move, if you've still got one.
What PSVR Games Work On PS5?
Given that the PSVR is fully compatible with PS5, as long as you have the relevant hardware, then pretty much all of the original PSVR games will be playable.

- Beat Saber
- Blood and Truth
- Hitman 3
- I Expect You To Die
- Job Simulator
- Resident Evil 7
- Superhot VR
- Tetris Effect
This games library looks to be as vast as the large Oculus Quest 2 games library, although one significant difference exists. The Oculus Quest 2 can connect up to Steam and other services to provide an even wider selection.
