Former US President Donald Trump has expressed his qualms about cryptocurrency, describing the financial innovation as dangerous.

In an interview with Maria Bartiromo, Trump commented on the current state of cryptocurrency, warning people of an alleged "crypto explosion" that will make the “big tech explosion look like baby stuff.”

Trump has always been forthcoming about his apprehensions regarding cryptocurrency trading. In August, the Former US President had called cryptocurrencies "a disaster waiting to happen".

Donald Trump addresses cryptocurrency as “an explosion in waiting”

Trump was asked by Bartiromo about his opinion on crypto, to which he responded: "Well, I never loved it because I like to have the dollar. I think the currency should be the dollar so I was never a big fan. But it’s spilling up bigger and bigger, and nobody is doing anything about it.”

Reiterating his strict stance against cryptocurrency, Trump expressed his suspicions and alerted people to an impending explosion.

I don’t want to have all these others, and that could be an explosion someday — the likes of which we’ve never seen. It will make the big tech explosion look like baby stuff. I think it’s a very dangerous thing.

However, Trump has shown considerable support to his Wife's Melania first NFT endeavour. He said: "She’s going to do great … She got a great imagination. And people love our former first lady, I can tell you that. They really do, they love her.”

These contrasting cryptocurrency opinions quickly caught the attention of the internet.

Melania Trump ventures into crypto by launching her own NFT collection

Former First Lady, Melania Trump, launched her own NFT collection earlier this month, with a small portion of the proceeds earned donated to children in foster care.

Commenting upon the launch of her first NFT collection, she said: "I am proud to announce my new NFT endeavour, which embodies my passion for the arts and will support my ongoing commitment to children through my Be Best initiative"

The NFT project named "Melania's Vision" comprises a watercolour painting of Melania Trump's eyes by French painter Marc-Antoine Coulon. The NFTs are launched at the Solana platform and are priced at 1 SOL - roughly $170 in the US market.
