The concepts of Transform and Fuse in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero have been iconic elements of the Dragon Ball series for a long time. Transform is the ability of certain characters to change into more powerful forms.

Fuse allows two characters to merge into a single, more powerful fighter. This article explains how to transform and fuse in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero to enhance combat performance.

How To Transform in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero

Transformations allow characters to power up and unlock new abilities mid-battle.

However, not all characters can transform. Therefore, it's important to prioritize those who can. You can quickly check if a character has a transformation by looking at their selection screen before the battle. If you see a circled face inside, they can transform.

To initiate a transformation, you must first build up a Skill Counter, accumulating as you deal or receive damage during a fight. This counter appears on your screen and fills with necessary points for transformations.

The required number of points varies depending on the transformation. Minor ones like going from Goten’s base form to Super Saiyan might only need one point, while more powerful transformations like Super Saiyan 4 for Goku will need more.

Once you have enough points in your Skill Counter, an icon will appear near your character’s portrait. To perform the transformation:

  • PC - Press Z on your keyboard to open the transformation menu. Then, select the desired transformation using the number keys or other assigned buttons.
  • Xbox - Press Up on the D-pad to bring up the Transformation Menu. Once it's open, press X, Y, A, or B to choose your desired transformation.
  • PS5 - Press Up on the D-pad to open the menu. After that, press X, Triangle, Circle, or Square to switch to your chosen transformation.

You don’t need to follow a strict sequence for transformations. If your character has multiple forms (like Goku), you can directly transform from base form to higher levels (such as Super Saiyan 3) as long as you have enough points.

Some transformations also change the character’s move set, making it worth experimenting with different forms to see which abilities work best for your playstyle.

How To Fuse in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero

Fusions are another thrilling feature of the game, allowing two compatible characters to merge into one formidable fighter.

True to its name, Fusion mixes the strengths of both characters, leading to new moves and skills that are not accessible individually. However, this option is only available if you have selected characters that can fuse, like Goku and Vegeta (for Gogeta or Vegito) or Goten and Trunks (for Gotenks).

Before you can fuse, you must build up your Skill Counter, much like with transformations. As the counter fills up during the fight, it will indicate when a fusion is possible. Once the counter reaches the required points:

  • PC - Hold Z to open the transformation menu. Access the Fusion Menu using the Shift key (or other assigned keys). From there, use the number keys to select the fusion option.
  • Xbox - Press Up on the D-pad, then use LB or RB to open the Fusion Menu. Select the Fusion by pressing X, Y, A, or B.
  • PS5 - Press Up on the D-pad, then press L1 or R1 to switch to the Fusion Menu. Press X, Triangle, Circle, or Square to initiate the fusion.

When the fusion is complete, the two characters combine into one and remain fused for the rest of the battle. Fusions cannot be undone once performed, so make sure it fits within your strategy before committing to it.

Fusing and transforming are your best strategies for turning the tide of any battle.
